There's Still Time to Nominate Sports Stars in Charnwood
Posted: Sat, 01 Sep 2018
The annual awards are run by Charnwood Borough Council and give recognition to committed athletes and the dedicated coaches and volunteers who give up their time to support them.
Will Blanche, senior active recreation officer at the Council, said "The Charnwood Sports Awards are a chance to celebrate the fantastic sporting culture we have in Charnwood.
"If you know someone whose talent and dedication deserves to be recognised, you can nominate them for a Charnwood Sports Award on the council website. There are 13 award categories including The Joe Humphries Special Recognition Award which has been launched to celebrate the tenth anniversary."
The Joe Humphries Special Recognition Award will recognise inspirational people and groups who have gone above and beyond and made outstanding achievements in the face of adversity.
The Joe Humphries Memorial Trust ( JHMT) is a Leicestershire heart charity which was set up in memory of Rothley teenager Joe Humphries, a victim of sudden arrhythmic death syndrome. The trust raises awareness of SADS and sudden heart deaths in young people and provides CPR training for schools, local sports and community groups and helps to fund community defibrillators. Equally important to the work of Joe's Trust ( JHMT) is the Inspire Awards small grant scheme set up to help young people from the city and county aged 13 to 21 years old to fulfil their potential and develop their talents - https://jhmt.org.uk/inspire-awards/
