My Trip To Mexico 2015!!!
Posted: Sun, 30 Aug 2015
Well what can I say? I have just come back from Mexico, I had the most amazing time ever! Meeting girl guides, girl scouts and new people from all over the world, what brilliant people there is out there. It was spectacular to taste some Mexican specialities, and learn about its history and a lot of Mexico's culture.
We had a fantastic chance meeting some of the young Mexico children within the orphanage which was picked as our service project. The night before we had a briefing of what we were going to be expect to do and what group of children we would be assisting. Group 1 consisted of the Leaders who was chosen to care for the babies, in Group 2 were 6 girls with 1-3 year olds(who in which included me) , so there were 6 girls left who were to look after the 4-6 year old in Group 3. Throughout the morning we were very happy having fun playing with the children with toys, books and in a small ball-pit. Whilst all the children had a small nap we had ourselves some well deserved lunch. Sounded like the group with the older children, had a bit more of a challenge as the children were a lot more active. Later on we fed, washed and dressed the children. When we had to leave it was very emotional, it had been a great day with the children and it was sad to think we would never see them again. But it was a good experience and memories will live on.
I used some of the grant that JHMT kindly gave to me to buy some crafts that were asked to bring from the wish list and used at the orphanage. The rest I used to help pay for the trip, I am very grateful as It really did help me to reach my target of £2,000, which was hard to fundraise for. So thank you JHMT for giving me an amazing once in a lifetime experience with the grant! I had an absolute amazing time and it wouldn't have been possible without JHMT.
