My season so far

Firstly, I would like to say thank you to JHMT for choosing to support me for the rest of this season, it will certainly help me to become a superior rower and hopefullly during the off-season, a better coach.
Now onto the blog.
The season started out nice and strong back in September, with many members of the squad staying on and many new members joining. Our first sessions on the water went well and, combined with many pb's on the ergometer, all of us felt confident that we had achieved a good depth to the squad that would only increase during the coming months.
However, as winter started closing in, so too did the wind and rain. After many days of heavy rainfall the river (along with just about every other body of water in the UK) became flooded, and seemed determined to remain so for a very long time. Combined with the storms that ocurred in the early weeks of this year, we have had almost no water outings since very early January, with us being confined to land training since, and with the Head of the river race only one week away, this is not an ideal situation to be in. But we remain hopeful! This coming weekend we finally have the chance to get back in the boats and can get in some much needed practice for what will be our first race of the (seemingly long) season.
