COVID-19 and Training
Posted: Tue, 13 Oct 2020
This years training and competition's have been unlike no other year, with group training being suspended for multiple months and no complete track season or cross country season ahead my approach this year has had to be different.
I used lockdown as an opportunity to get a solid base of training in and during these months I managed to get myself back to a fitness that I hadn't had for a long time. Once training sessions resumed I began training consistently in the hope of future races. Luckily, towards the end of the track season I managed to race two 3k track races, both a long way of my PB but a solid start after such a long period without racing.
Since then I gained my place at the University of Birmingham and have began training with their athletics and Cross- country team, training with some of the best endurance athletes across the country. I have only been training with them for around 3 weeks now but have a clear short term and long term goals set out with the help from my coaches and a training plan to enable me to achieve these.
I am very excited at what the coming months are going to bring and look forward to seeing my improvements with the UOB training team.
