Lawrie McMemeny, retired football coach and Southampton Football Club legend, recently visited Leicester on our behalf to advertise the availability of screenings for SADS. SADS is a heart rhythm abnormality and can happen to any young person between 12-35 years of age. If a heart rhythm problem is suspected or discovered, it can be monitored and treated.
Lawrie said,
"While Steve will never forget his son, I am sure he and his family will eventually take some satisfaction from trying to cut down on the alarming number of young people who die from Sudden Arrhythmic Death Syndrome every week in our country."
"Even as a father and grandfather myself, I can't imagine how that must feel and how you can live any sort of normal life after this."
