The spotlight shines on 'inspirational' young people from Leicestershire at the The Lord-Lieutenant's Award For Young People 2014

Finally the waiting was finally over as the Lord – Lieutenant of Leicestershire Jennifer, Lady Gretton once again hosted the prestigious, young people awards 2014 held on Tuesday 8th April at County Hall in Glenfield. This was the 8th year that these awards have been held.

Once again, over 85 young people, aged 13- 19 years, were identified by members of the public, teachers, youth workers, and various organisations as potential candidates for the awards. Following the shortlisting process and the difficulty in whittling the list down to produce a list of finalists it was time to pay tribute and celebrate the inspirational achievements of young people from the city and county who for many have had to overcome many challenging situations in their lives.
