Abigail Gray is 17 years old and has learning difficulties but is a keen basketball player. She is a member of Special Olympics, an organisation which provides sporting opportunities for adults and children with learning problems since birth.

JHMT's Support

Through Special Olympics Abigail plays basketball in Oakham and Leicester. Last years she represented Special Olympics East Midlands at the UK National Games in Sheffield. Now she has been selected to represent Special Olympics Great Britain at the Special Olympics World Game in Abu Dhabi in March next year. This will fulfil her lifetime ambition to represent her country at one of the worlds largest sporting events. Over 7000 athletes from around the world are taking part supported by 2600 coaches and 20,000 volunteers.

An Inspire donation towards the cost of her training, equipment and other pre tournament costs has made all the difference to Abigail in fulfilling her dream.

Abigail said "I have always wanted to represent my country at basketball and now I have the chance. I am really excited"

Simon Taylor, Inspire Lead, said: ' We are delighted to support to support Abigail in seeking to fulfil her lifetime ambition and we look forward to hearing of her future success.'
