Biography

My name is Alyssa Hillyer and I am 17 years old. I started dancing at the age of 2 just before my 3rd birthday. My mum put me into dance because I wouldn't sit still and thought it would be a good idea to help use up all the extra energy!

I started at Ann Oliver Stage School where I competed in many dance competitions and have now progressed to True Blue Dance Academy where they invited me straight into their competition team where I can further my potential in all dance genres. In August 2023 I was selected to perform with the Elite Dance team to perform in Disneyland Paris and last month we performed at the Can You Dance convention and our team won the Wild Card and have moved straight into the Super convention in October 2024.

I started my new journey into full time training at Studio 79 in September 2023 where I train 5 days a week in order to complete and graduate with a BTEC in Dance and Musical Theatre by August 2025. Current achievements: I was selected to perform in 2 dances at the Move It London in March 2024 and had a lead role in one of the Select Dances in the End of Year Dance Show.

I have just finished at Chantry School of Dance where I furthered my Classical Ballet training for one year and I also appeared in the production of Cats in March 2024 as Cassandra.

I not only dance but I perform in Musicals as well. I love acting and singing and my ultimate dream is to be a triple threat and perform in the production of Cats in London when it comes back up the West End or anywhere else it's playing in the world!

Recent successful auditions were for a Summer Season production of Carousel at Kilworth House and the pantomime at De Montfort Hall with Imagine theatre.

I also attend Leicester Theatre Group and have performed in many of their shows where I have had a number of dancing and acting parts.

Latest audition success is that I will be appearing as Velma Kelly in the production of Chicago in August 2024 with the musical director Matthew Wesley (previous credits: Assistant Choreographer for Chicago in the West End London), then I will go straight into rehearsals for Back to the 80's, a high powered dance production with great songs of the 80's. I've already been selected as Dance Captain!

I've also been accepted on the 3 day Joffrey Ballet School Intensive at BOA Academy in Birmingham in August 2024 so it's going to be a busy year.

The latest news is that I have been selected to perform with the Elite Team with True Blue Dance Academy in Disneyland Florida USA in August 2025.

I am really grateful that JHMT have supported me through this journey and helped me to gain these wonderful achievements so far.

I will blog again soon with my progression and experiences to keep you updated. 😁

Thank you so much JHMT.
