Biography

Bailey Moore is 13 year of age and started training at Gracie Barra when he was 6 years old. at the same time his also trained at Gracie Barra Derby. Bailey would watch jiu-jitsu matches on TV at home which further fueled his interest and passion for sport. Brazilian jiujitsu (bjj) is a combat sport in which 2 x opponents aim to take each other to the ground and advance through a hierarchy of positions which are scored according to level of control and submission opportunity, ultimately leading to the submission. There is no striking involved in bjj which as a self defence encourages restraint control over an attacker without causing too much harm. Since starting bjj, Bailey has grown in confidence and has developed good social skills especially through competition where he has met and fought against different opponents and built friendships with many of those people. The experience gained has also built resilience with loses and taught him how to assess mistakes and address issues which also crosses over into other things outside of bjj. During the time Bailey has been competing he has achieved: In 2022, 1 x elite World Championships gold and became the UK Compnet Regional champion. In 2024, he won 1 x British Open Championships gold, 2 x British bronze and 2 x elite worlds bronze and multiple local comps totaling 7 gold, 1 silver and 2 bronze. Bailey is a member of Gracie Barra Derby's competition team who attend many competitions throughout the year which take place are all over the UK and some major comps which are held in America and some parts of Europe. Bailey has been on the competition team for around 4 years and up to now has only been able to take part in local comps. The Inspire grant will help him to travel and take part in some bigger competitions which are recognised within the sport. Bailey aims to teach jujitsu when he is older and is hoping that ju jitsu will become an Olympic sport in the near future .
