Biography

My name is Beth Wright and I love playing sports in particular cricket. I am 17 years old and I have moved from Chelmsford in Essex to the Loughborough College student accommodation as I would like to have the opportunity to pursue cricket at a high standard. I am studying BTEC L3 in sport coaching and development and I hope to continue studying to L4 and L5 through the college.

Since I have been at the College I have been successful in trialling for the University cricket team and are now part of the BUCS Performance team. I also successfully trialled for the Lightning Academy which is a great achievement for me.

Being part of the Lightning academy is a great achievement, however if I look back at my cricket achievements I am very proud of winning the Colt of the year at Chelmsford Cricket Club as I was the first female to ever win it. I was also extremely proud of being part of the Essex Cricket girl teams from the age of 11. This year I have also been offer the opportunity to be part of the Women's Elite Eagles Programme for Essex County Cricket Club, however my priorities and training will be primarily for the Lightning Academy

JHMT's Support

My Ambitions are to play cricket for the for the Lightnings, play in The Hundred and hopefully one day represent England.

Also, with female sport participation numbers increasing and the need for more female coaches, role models and mentors, the JHMT Inspire Award small grant would not only help me but also future cricketers as I hope to develop my coaching and leadership skills.
