Biography
Lauren Henry is 17 years old and from Lutterworth, Leicestershire.
My name is Lauren, and I have been rowing for five years. I am a single sculler, and am hoping to be selected for the World Rowing Junior Championships in Tokyo, 2019.
I started rowing when I was twelve years old at Hollowell scullers and rowed there for a few months. I then moved to Leicester Rowing Club where I am still training now. Originally I mostly rowed in quads and doubles, but moved to single sculling when I was fourteen years old.
Balancing training and schoolwork has been a challenge to say the least. But I have managed to do this by keeping myself organised. On average I train twelve times a week so I fit in my schoolwork whenever I have time.
My main achievements include winning the Great Britain Junior trials, the British championships and the National Junior Sculling Regatta.
Lauren said: "The Inspire award shows me that hard work and dedication is recognised by others."
Simon Taylor, Inspire lead, said: 'Lauren's devotion to her highly competitive and demanding sport and ambition are a real example for all young people and we really hope the award will help her get to the championships . We will be looking out for her !'
